ALUMNI OCTOBER HALF-TERM PROGRAMME
During October Half Term, we commenced our PLACED Academy Alumni and Pathways October programme, which provided an engaging three days of professional insight, skills development, and inspiration for our alumni.
Day One in Liverpool started with a tour of the iconic Liver Building, Albert Dock, and Hartley Huts, providing context on heritage-led regeneration and placemaking, with Clan. The afternoon sessions with Avison Young, Vinci and K2 at The Strand Shopping Centre project showcased how collaboration between developers, architects, and planners shapes major urban developments. Seeing the project both in presentation and on-site brought theory and practice together effectively.
Day Two in Manchester focused on professional development, with interactive workshops on pitching, interview preparation, and CV feedback. Gaining practical advice from industry professionals was invaluable and helped build confidence in communicating skills and ambitions, hosted at Avison Young’s Manchester office.
Day Three provided further industry insight through work safaris at Rider Levett Bucknall and AECOM, offering exposure to roles across quantity surveying, project management, and design consultancy. The guided tour of Aviva Studios was a highlight - an inspiring example of modern architecture and cultural investment in the city.
