ALUMNI & PATHWAYS: STUDENT TO STUDENT FINAL SESSION

On Thursday 8th January, we hosted the third and final session of our PLACED Academy Student-to-Student mentorship programme at Rider Levitt Bucknall’s Liverpool office.

This programme has seen our PLACED Academy Studio, Alumni and Pathways programmes come together.

This final session focused on portfolios and CVs, with an emphasis on presenting work and experience effectively for university applications. The workshop began with a mentor-led mini show and tell, where mentors shared an example of one of their own projects that appears in their portfolio and/or CV, offering insight into how these develop over time, while mentees picked out skills they recognised.

Mentors then presented their portfolios to mentees, sharing practical tips on content, layout and presentation, prompting discussion around how to select projects and communicate ideas clearly. The session moved on to CV development, with mentors offering guidance on structure and clarity, followed by a CV crit and a programme and project statistics challenge to help mentees better articulate their experience.

It was a fantastic way to conclude the programme! It’s great to see our mentors grow in confidence across the three sessions, and brilliant to see how much our mentees had learnt.

A huge thank you to all the mentors and mentees who took part throughout the programme, and to Rider Levett Bucknall for generously hosting us and for their continued support!
