PLACED Academy is committed to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments where all young people can thrive. We understand that neurodivergent and disabled individuals may have unique needs, and we strive to provide tailored support to help them succeed. Here are some frequently asked questions about our approach:

ACCESSIBILITY

& INCLUSION

  • We strive to use venues that are physically accessible, where possible. We will provide information about the accessibility of specific locations for each venue throughout the programme. If physical accessibility is a concern, please let us know so we can explore suitable alternatives where possible.

  • PLACED Academy embraces a person-centred approach. We believe in understanding each individual's strengths, challenges, and aspirations. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to our programmes and providing a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to learn.

  • We actively work to embed inclusive practices throughout our programmes, using a range of teaching methods to support different learning styles and making sure communication is clear and structured. We create opportunities for flexible participation and engagement, while focusing on building a positive and accepting peer environment. We also regularly review our materials and delivery methods to identify where we can improve.

  • We understand that adjustments will vary depending on individual needs. This may include providing learning materials in alternative formats, such as larger print or coloured paper, using visual aids, breaking tasks into smaller steps, and making sure language is clear and concise. We can also provide information in different formats and create opportunities for questions and clarification. In the environment itself, this may include offering private spaces, allowing for movement breaks, and being mindful of sensory sensitivities. Each session is led by a PLACED Academy team member and supported by industry mentors, helping to ensure an appropriate and supportive staff-to-young-people ratio throughout.

  • We encourage parents/guardians and young people to disclose any relevant information during the application process. We will have dedicated sections in our application forms and welcome open conversations to understand individual needs. You can also contact our team directly to discuss specific requirements.

  • Absolutely not. PLACED Academy is committed to equal opportunities. Disclosure of information allows us to understand how best to support your child and make necessary adjustments to ensure their success.

  • We believe in open and regular communication. We will establish clear channels for communication, which may include regular updates, meetings, and opportunities to discuss progress and any adjustments being made.
